The boys went out this morning to collect leaves for a math project. They sorted and graphed the colours of the leaves. We had a ton of fun and learned a lot about nature today.
Over the next few days, if you have an opportunity to go for a walk around your neighbourhood or in the valley. Can you please take a few moments to collect more leaves, sticks that can be bent, pebbles, pine cones and other natural things? We are going to be doing a project that focuses on using things from our environment. Mrs. Lower Kid Talk
Tomorrow is the beginning of the NHL season. The boys are invited to wear a jersey to school. It can be ANY jersey they would like to wear ( does not have to be NHL)
Request from Mrs Lower - Please make sure your son's clothing is labelled. Hoodies, jackets, mitts, toques, snow pants.... Thank you. The boys have been learning about Terry Fox and his impact on Canada. We all participated in the Terry Fox Run and learned that our fundraising efforts will continue this upcoming week as we try to raise $500.00 as a school to support a grade 6 student who will donate his hair. Three of our teachers will also shave their heads on Friday, October 6th if our goal is met.
The kindergartens and grade one boys have been investigating colour and autumn. We have been on a few nature walks in the school grounds looking for signs of fall. Over the next week, I will be asking families to send in leaves and other natural items so we can investigate the changes further. We also did an experiment regarding primary and secondary colours, The boys were extremely interested to see the changes in the water colour. Ask your son to explain the change in colours! |
